Description
FOUR VINTAGE NESTED YELLOWWARE BOWLS,THE LARGEST (9") WITH LID
(or ONE CASSEROLE/LID with THREE SMALLER NESTED BOWLS)
Size(s):
5 1/4" diameter 6 1/4" d. 7 1/2" d. 9" d.
Color:
Two-tone. Pink (Dusty Rose) with Gray.
Motif/design/pattern:
Definitely tropical
Age:
The motif/design (tropical plant/leaves, flower or beans) and dreamy two-tone color conjure up images of Brasil (Brazil), which became a popular post-WWII theme in U.S. culture, beginning in the mid to late 1940s, and continuing throughout the 1950s and into the 1960s.
My best guess is that these items were produced between 1944-1955
.
Condition:
Although these bowls (and lid), particularly the largest, are well worn, they are--
in this seller's opinion
--without major/significant structural flaws. Note: there IS a one-inch-long crack (inside top/rim) of the largest bowl or casserole, but it shows no signs of growing or developing into anything worse. Use and wash with care.
Manufacturer:
The manufacturer (pottery) and the name of the pattern remain unidentified as of the initial listing.
Hull? Hall? Universal? Metlox? HELP?
Note:
These bowls/lid are likely approximating seventy (70) years of age, but despite their age and imperfections, these kitchenware items are both useful and attractive, and would be a wonderful addition to the right person's kitchen.
