    Description

"Buzz Aldrin Autographed – Five Ounce Silver Dollar PR70DCAM (Proof) – Apollo 11 50th Anniversary 2019 – First Day of Issue, Launch Ceremony
    PCGS PR70DCAM 2019-P Apollo 11 50th Anniversary 5oz – First Day of Issue, Launch Ceremony –
Hand-signed by Apollo 11 Astronaut Buzz Aldrin
Released on January 24th, this coin comes from the official Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Coin Program Launch Ceremony at Kennedy Space Center. This five ounce silver coin was minted to celebrate the first manned moon landing and is the first United States silver coin with a proof finish, reeded edge, and curved shape. Graded PR70DCAM by PCGS, this coin comes with both a US Mint Certificate of Authenticity and an insert hand-signed by Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin."
This is one of the very limited and most exclusive versions of the coin available.  Hand-signed by the Legend himself...Buzz Aldrin!!!  Please see photo of Mr Aldrin signing the inserts...not a photocopy...but a real signature from the man on the mission.
This coin was signed as part of The Astronauts Memorial Foundation and the winning bidder will also receive my correspondence with Linn LeBlanc, COO of Buzz Aldrin Ventures getting the coin signed and sent to me.  The coin is amazing by itself, but to have such a special coin signed by a living member of the mission makes this a once in a life-time opportunity to own a piece of our shared space history.
Although the coin will no longer fit in the original padded case that came from the US Mint due to the new case it is in, it is all included so you will have everything associated with the coin.
This is the massive, dome-shaped, silver proof 5 oz. coin...never displayed, always stored in a safe location.  The coin case itself is sealed as received from Buzz Aldrin Ventures, never opened by me and the coin never touched.
Due to the special nature of this item, please do not bid if you have zero, or poor, feedback history unless you contact me prior to bidding...serious offers will be considered.  The item will not ship prior to Ebay verifying payment has been completed.  My feedback history assures you of a 100% honest effort on my part, please be equally as honest.
Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding and good luck to you collectors!!!  If this coin is out of your desired range, I have also listed a non-autographed coin as well...please see my other items for sale.

    Background
In 2019, the U.S. Mint released the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Five Ounce Silver Proof Coin as part of the the
Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Program
. It commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first manned landing on the Moon by NASA’s Apollo 11 crew. The program includes curved coins in gold, silver, clad, and a special five-ounce silver coin. A public design competition determined the common obverse design.
The Apollo program, along with its predecessor Mercury and Gemini programs, inspired generations of American students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), which has fueled innovation and economic growth throughout a range of industries over the last four decades.

    Characteristics
The obverse (heads) design features the inscriptions “MERCURY,” “GEMINI,” and “APOLLO,” separated by phases of the Moon, and a footprint on the lunar surface, which together represent the efforts of the United States space program leading up to the first manned Moon landing.
The reverse (tails) design features a representation of a close-up of the famous ‘Buzz Aldrin on the Moon’ photograph taken July 20, 1969, that shows just the visor and part of the helmet of astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The reflection in Buzz Aldrin’s helmet includes astronaut Neil Armstrong, the United States flag, and the lunar lander.
